Urban enhancement and regeneration proposal approved

The proposal for the valorisation and urban regeneration of the Porto Vecchio - Porto Vivo area presented by the COSTIM group, which develops along the lines of unity, trigenerationality and environmental sustainability, has been approved by the Council.
On Monday 29 July, the Council of the Municipality of Trieste approved, with a resolution presented by the Porto Vivo councilor Everest Bertoli, the proposal for the valorisation and urban regeneration of the "Porto Vecchio - Porto Vivo" area, presented on 8 August 2023 , according to the Public Private Partnership scheme, and pursuant to article 193 of Legislative Decree no. 36/2023, by the COSTIM company, a leading group in the real estate development and urban regeneration sector.
The proposal will then be sent to the relevant territorial districts before passing to the City Council for the feasibility and public interest assessment which will be set for the month of September.
The proposal envisages an intervention which involves the redevelopment of the entire 66 hectare area of the "Porto Vecchio - Porto Vivo" according to a unitary and sustainable project which favors access to the sea of that part of the city of Trieste, inaccessible and abandoned for decades, promoting the extension of pedestrian areas and generating a liveable three-generational public space (for young people, adults, elderly) of high quality (with the inclusion of research and innovation centres) and very well connected to the intermodal transport system, given also the proximity of the train station.
The overall investment is over 600 million euros, in compliance with the Porto Vecchio Master Plan, according to the guidelines of the Municipality of Trieste and the guidelines of the Ursus Consortium.
The intervention proposed by COSTIM is made up of a functional mix characterized by a strong presence of public functions of general and infrastructural interest, supported by complementary private interventions in order to create a strong urban centrality.
COSTIM (100% controlled by POLIFIN, the Bosatelli family's holding) is working on an increasingly industrialized and digitalized reality capable of developing large, vital and connected sustainable urban regeneration projects in an innovative and integrated way.
The strong digitalisation in both the design and construction phases, the 100% ESG compliant approach are the distinctive characteristics of the Group.

Trieste Spring Run 2024

On Sunday 5 May, through Porto Vecchio - Porto Vivo up to Piazza Unità d'Italia, with the sea and Karst in the background, 10 thousand people, plus their four-legged friends, took part in the Trieste Spring Run sporting event.
A real city festival, at the same time of international importance, the initiative included various races, including the “21K Trieste Spring Run” (half marathon starting from the Duino Castle), the “21K Trieste spring roller” (on the wheels of skates), the "Trieste spring young" (for the little ones, limited to Piazza Unità), the solidarity relay and above all the classic “Bavisela family run”, meeting in Miramare, non-competitive and dedicated to everyone.
Even before the start of its redevelopment, the then Porto Vecchio was a destination for sports enthusiasts from Trieste, especially running, who met here to practice, organize themselves or without the need to make an appointment.
Today the tradition not only continues but will continue, in the name of innovation and opening up to numerous visitors.
Thanks to the multi-year "Porto Vivo" project, the Municipality of Trieste is in fact progressively bringing the ancient port area back to life, destined to become a new district, a pulsating organ of the city as well as an urban forest that connects the latter, the Karst and the sea. Among the many centers of economic, tourist, cultural and landscape development and attractiveness - both current and potential - large green spaces equipped for sports and leisure will also arise within the area.
For these reasons, the "PV Porto Vecchio Porto Vivo" logo printed on the blue t-shirts of the participants in the "Bavisela family run" had a strong symbolic meaning.
